Yes, spot on WW. A movie that I deliberately didn't list, because I thought it might be too easy a clue, is King Kong.
The peak centre right of the photo has become informally known as King Kong's Profile, for obvious reasons.

Thanks Johnw.

Being a bit indulgent with three photos as I rarely get to post in the international section. :P

I’m after the name of the flat where all three of the photos were taken. Its in New Zealand.
Pic 1 and 2 are looking towards the east end. Pic 3 is looking north east and taken a bit further up the flat showing topography to the left of the photos 1 and 2.

Its a well known and walked area with marked tracks although its not classified as a 'great walk'.

I thought you might be the one to get this WFBW. It was your track notes (in response to my forum thread) that inspired me to head up to this area when Gillespie Pass was buried in snow due to an unseasonal heavy fall. Thanks again for the tips!

The flat is actually Jumboland. However I suspect you may have just got the 'lands' mixed up. Regardless Pic 3 is looking at the entrance to wonderland valley and the wonderland stream is visible in the first pics. Amazing place.

Over to you WFBW.

Looks like a great area to walk.

I have not done it, but I note that the Hillary Track is closed - and this was a side bluff from the day 3 section.
The beach in the distance [due South] is Karekare beach and we did a quick walk from the Piha road onto Te Ahua Point for this view.

That looks about the right angle for the slopes of Ngaruhoe.

Sorry, ended up without reception in NZ. The River was the kali gandaki. More precisely, I'm at the hydro dam at the aadhi khola confluence.
Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful.

Thanks for that icefest, no worries. I suspect it would have taken most of us a while to get to the correct answer. I was originally thinking the Mekong before the Indian Ocean clue.

Thanks, fat boy.

My photo is from an island in the Atlantic Ocean. What's the name of the feature?

In the photo above, the water is leaving a red deposit. Curiously, two minutes downstream the water flow has turned into a yellow river.

It is indeed Cascada de los Colores in La Palma, one of the Canary Islands. To get there it's a pleasant five-hour return hike along the gravel-bottomed canyon shown below.

Well done, Last, you got the answer first, so over to you!

116 views, no bites. A clue. A notable WW2 event happened just off the island in the middle.
