Indeed it is. You can take a mini steam train up there and stay at the Youth Hostel in order to get this fine view. That peak is one of the world's highest.

That's the one, with a view of Kanchenjunga, world's #3 75kms away. YH is a great stay by even recent reviews but for the budget traveller. I stayed in '77.
Sunrise on nearby Tiger Hill reveals Everest to north-west, just visible 170kms away.

Thanks vagrom, looks like an interesting trip. Apparently that train has also been running since the 1880s.

Next one from the South Pacific. Might be a bit more difficult, just name the valley/river:

"South Pacific", so not NZ nor Hawaii?

Looks like a volcanic cone there.

The region's totally unknown to me so i'm guessing south-west Pacific, ring of fire?

Bougainville or New Caledonia?

Not NZ, Hawaii, Bougainville or New Caledonia. It does have something in common with New Caledonia but is a long way from there.
If you drew a right angle between New Caledonia and Hawaii this place would come close to sitting in the corner.
Yes to volcanic, but not active.

Oui, I am in French Polynesia and on Tahiti. As a further clue I will narrow it down to Tahiti Nui.
Now just need the name of the valley...

It would be very interesting to visit at the moment, in a macabre sort of way. DFAT's Travel Advisory is succinct: Don't go and if you're there now, leave.
I visited the lakes in Sept/Oct '77. All the hippy travellers warned about a girl who'd been shot while swimming . There were only 2 Lonely Planet guides at this time.
They're exceptionally beautiful lakes with raised edges a bit like Pigsty Ponds. Day journey west of Kabul.
Your go John.

Yes, Mt Waiʻaleʻale on Kauaʻi. Once thought/claimed to be the wettest place on Earth. While Waiʻaleʻale remains one of the wettest spots the guernsey has since gone to both Mawsynram and Cherrapunji in Meghalaya, India. Subsequent research indicates that this spot may actually be somewhere well below the true summit. Unfortunately the view whited out on us so couldn't see much more than what's in the photo.
It seems to be only you and I playing vagrom, so back to you.

Tyreless, just pull down shots from the web Google/Images and then supply clues. Ideally they're places you've been, so you supply a bit of unique info about your visit.
But also the very best might not need a clue. I posted a beauty of Dover's white cliffs, home of the South Downs Way - a much better photo than I could ever take. I did walk a bit of it, from Bexhill.

John, your shot shows a sign stating one of wettest places and a quick Google search supperts that. When you noted USA instead of Hawaii I was thinking Rockies or Appalachian Trail. I thought Hawaii would have all dark, pumice-like volcanic earth.

Please someone else post or i'll have to do so at next library visit. Presently can't upload on my phone.

I've visited four of the major Hawaiian islands. It is volcanic but I've seen a variety of soil types there. Red earth is very prominent on Kauaʻi around Waimea canyon.

Reconfirming, anyone can go next.

Lake Bogoria?

I thought you were supposed to provide the country in this game. Is it okay to just say what continent it is?

On the first page of this thread, it is "suggested" to provide "the country, or at least the continent".

Orion has it - these are hot springs on the side of Lake Bogoria in Kenya. At back is the wall of the Great Rift Valley.
A great place to see flamingos.

As for country - I thought I would start with Africa and narrow it down later if people were struggling.
