The tyre doesn't even look all that old. Would the hut ruin in question be Doctor Phillips, on the AAWT section between Mackeys and Happys?

Disappointingly not Disappointment Ridge. Further north in the same park.

No but you are getting warmer. It is on the AAWT in that general area.

Definitely. It is right on the track and is at eye level. Maybe between 1600m - 1700m asl

Ok... Final clue...

The prominent feature closest to the tyre is a nice to place to enjoy a meal and almost 2 miles from some holes in the ground.

Prominent feature being Tabletop, and the holes being the mines between that and Selwyn...where are my NSW maps...?

You got it NNW. The tyre is on the AAWT, just below Tabletop on its southeastern flanks. The hut ruin is Tabletop hut which is about 200 meters off the track heading west.

All yours.

None of my maps mention the Tabletop Hut ruin, so I've never visited it and never thought of it for this. Don't remember the tyre from any of my visits to that area either, but it's been a few years.

Still, thanks, and now for something completely different. Territory. Name the watercourse. Bonus points if you get the name of the prominent feature in the shot before I can remember.

Nope, but - in Territory terms - you aren't a massive distance out.

Wrong direction. Looks like I'm going to have to try to lasso a few cryptic clues for this one. Never, never expected that.

That's the one. Elsey NP. I think that cascade is called Tufa Falls, but wouldn't swear to it.
