I remembered that one because I sat on it to eat my lunch when cycling that trail about 12 months ago. Been some years since I walked the Thredbo River track to DHG, maybe there?

Dead Horse Gap is correct. About 3/4 of the way up and almost out of the trees.

Thanks Zapruda, sorry a bit pressed for time atm. I do now recall it; have passed that spot more than once but not in the snow or the dark :).

NSW again, what are we heading for?

Not Twynam saddle. You're in the general area but I'm not in that part of the range.

A little closer but not Townsend. We are climbing fairly steeply out of a bit of a valley/depression.
The named peak on the upper left is our immediate destination. Doesn't look very prominent from this angle.

Without consulting my old photos I'll take a stab to try to cheat my way through here (thanks WFBW). I'd say its a little higher up from where the last photo was taken - maybe going between Rams Head and Rams Head North with our famous lump in the background on the left......

I think MountainMadness may be right but I don't think that Granite outcrop on the right is North Rams Head, it's just a Granite outcrop. If I'm right, give it to MM as he named Rams Head first.

I would like to give it to you MM as you have mentioned a correct feature, but the location and view information is wrong.
This angle is somewhat deceptive. Not on the track mentioned in the previous photo, not even all that close to it.
We are well off any formed track and the lump in the top left is not Kosci. Kosci is in the same general direction but beyond this and well out of view. Should be able to work it out now :).

Edit: The outcrop top right is not Rams Head North. It is not in this view.

OK, this one has gone on long enough. The lump in the upper left is Rams Head. We are approaching it from the (unofficial) Southerly Rams Head, accounting for the acute angle that diminishes the size, and we are still a fair way off from it. I was uncomfortable with the earlier answer that mentioned the correct name but implied it was Mt Kosciuskzo, which is incorrect. Albeit there is a resemblance from here. The outcrop on the right is unnamed, one of many up there. Anyone can go next.

Thanks but I'll need to take a rain check. I don't have anything handy right now and packing for a 3 day trip.
Anyone else feel free to go.

not mt banks, but close.

In 1789 this feature was known by a blandly literal name, I haven't been able to source when it was renamed to it's current official title.
