Share your gems of wisdom people. One liners preferably. I'll start.:

Get most of your miles done early. Gives you plenty of time to set up camp and take things easy at the end of the day.

Don't try and force what I'm seeing to fit the map - I'm simply not where I thought I was!

-I'm not lost, everybody else is.
-(to paraphrase a TV show) Bushwalking sober is like... camping... sober.
-Peakbagging is a great opportunity to go to quite a few places you'll never want to return to.
-Don't cross thread gas cannisters.
-When scrub bashing, don't turn a one-way trip into a circuit.
-You never know how steep it really is until you are right below it.
-Never leave your pack unattended in the presence of idiots, and if you do, always check for rocks.
-Don't take pre-sliced salami on a multi-day bushwalk.

I'll think of more later...

Everything is twice as far as it looks on the map.

Always choose a flat tent site.

It will invariably rain torrentially before you are able to get your wet weather gear on.

Don't take Nutella on multiday walks. In fact, don't take Nutella at all.

On behalf of my step-son, he would say:

Don't eat wombat poo when you know your stepfather wont share his drink with you afterwards. Even if he pays you $5.

When you can't find the expensive rented Sat-phone that you thought you left at the last campsite, empty EVERYTHING out of your pack, including the sleeping bag in the bottom AND pack liner, and shake your pack while upside down - IT WILL BE THERE  - and save a lot of arguments about who is going to jog back to look for it
