Lightweight daypack (118 grams). It's this one:
https://www.amazon.com.au/SPAHER-Ultral ... B0787XYSSJ
I don't need it anymore because my overnight pack has a removable daypack.

Colour is olive green. I used it for side-trips while multi-day walking. Two side pockets and one internal pocket. One small tear in the bottom which doesn't affect the function. Happy to post anywhere in Australia without charge.

For the first 24 hours I will give priority to those who have previously offered something here in the "Pay It Forward" thread.

I have been the recipient recently of some forum generosity, so here is my pay it forward...

The North Face (although purchased when I was in Vietnam year before last, so a knock off or a backdoor factory job) 3 in 1 Goretex Jacket. Fleecer inner either fastens into the jacket or can be worn as a separate jacket and is also reversible. Some of the seam tape is inside lifting. It is marked XL, but that is Asian XL. Seems more of a man's cut than for women as it is narrower through the hips than a womans jacket of that same size elsewhere would be. It is a bit too big for me (5ft 3ish woman who is a size 10-12). The photo with the tag is more representative of its actual colour, it is a greeny teal.

Excuse fluff and dog hair on fleece, it doesn't actually look as fluff infested in real life.

Up for grabs for whoever would want to pay postage.

A couple of steel 20Lite Jerry cans up for grabs as part of our "Clean-up and De-stash". Still OK as in no leaks but a bit of surface rust. Advertised on other forums and pick-up only for obvious reason. Personally I prefer steel fuel cans as they are strong enough to use as supports for the car when jacking out of bogs etc but I don't see Cecile and I bogging the new Kia, too scared of scratching the shiny paint work

I have a pair of AARN Balance Pockets (Sports size I think 6l each?) to pass on to a new home.

These belonged to a earlier model AARN Natural Balance pack I no longer own.

The pockets are in excellent condition and have their internal dry bags intact (although these should probably be checked for waterproofedness).

I can also offer up the strap that goes with these to allow them to function as a backpack.

If someone wants them I am happy to post at your expense. Please comment here then PM me. ImageImageImage

Ted, that’s a bit sad....surely you’ll have more “projects”, if even for grandkids etc, although I did have similar thoughts a while ago , in a darker moment, when thinking about my collection of various DIY stuff. Then I brightened up a bit, and made a few more knives for my kids, and I’d like to make a few rucksacks for them too.

I did, however, suppress my desire to buy a bandsaw though, coz we have no room for any more furniture, homemade, or restored . But, I hope I’ll always have DIY “projects” to keep me busy. Next in line is probably ambitious, but for many years I’ve wanted to make some shoes, with proper hand sewn welts, so that’s being planned at the moment.

andrew I'm not going to give it all away but I don't need "Industrial" quantities anymore. A lot of this is from my small failure in business, being unable to compete with sweat shops in China for small stuff combined with stupidly impossible insurance premiums.

Does anyone want a Thermarest foam pillow? It's the most comfortable camping pillow I've ever tried, but I can't justify carrying 209 grams.

It's this product:
https://www.wildearth.com.au/buy/therma ... S250-01690
and I have appended photos of it - fluffed up and also packed away - compared to a bed pillow.

No charge for postage. I just want to declutter.

I have an stainless steel pot with lid that I have not used for some time so I think it is time to find it a new home.

It looks to be around the 1.7L mark (external dimensions are 17cm diameter x 8.5cm high).

So I'm new to this, and while I've been day hiking and camping for half my life, I've not ventured to overnight hiking. But planning to do this as soon as I get myself somewhat set up!
I've been researching like crazy and while I'm ok to commit to a new sleeping bag and pack it'd be great to get things like a tent and sleeping mat cheaper, until I know what I want.
This thread is so kind and just makes me smile! Does anyone have anything for someone starting out?

CJ winter is almost over so a tarp may do instead of a tent.
Pack sub 1kg, bag & mat sub 1kg, a tarp/ground sheet/bug net sub 1kg.
Best wishes, Neo.

Edit, my point was you prob don't need a tent to get into it, springs a comin :)

Spring?? Ha! I am still waiting for winter to arrive.
Aldi is your friend with cheap gear as are Op-Shops and while not light you can use an old sheet for a tarp to keep the sun and dew off

PIF
No longer part of my winter kit and just sitting there.
One of the Tyvek sleeping bag covers from Evan at TerraRosa. It was a PIF to me a couple of years ago.
I'll do postage on this one as per the original gifter You might get a full season from it if treated gently

PIF: Macpac Microlight tent
Pretty well used, older style bought of ebay around 10 years ago.

used as a backup but has been used on the SCT a few years ago with no probs. Needs seam sealing by now.

Postage would be $20 so if you want it let me know.

Definitely pick-up only but my training wheels will no longer be needed.
Two Landcruiser 16inch split rims with steel belted tyres, used as as training aid for sled/pulk hauling, if you can drag a pair of these cross country for 10 klicks or so you are well on the way to being ready for Antarctica or Denali, I worked up to one after starting with a 14 inch rim and tyre, then 2 of the 14 inch then one of the big ones. If you want some other training wheels those too are there
Find yourself a nice sandy beach and it is even harder and better training

New stuff for pick-up if needed.
We just had a new shed/garage erected and there are a lot of foil and foam insulation scraps left. Not enough for a tent but can be cut down for thin sit-pads, a sheet rucksack size could be folded in half and 2 layers would work well. This is the foil on both sides and not the PE foam like the last lot I had

No buyers so moved here to PIF:

CAMELBAK UV CLEAR

Decided to pass this on. I rarely need to treat water, now have a squeeze type and usually carry micropur drops (out of date) as a just-in-case.

Very good condition. Rechargeable head unit on a ~700ml bottle. Comes with the units soft case and charge cable.
Done in seconds, cool blue light effect and the UV also kills viruses!

Send me a PM to claim it, can post at the start of December.

Cheers, Neo.

Pay It Forward??

Postby Eremophila » Sun 12 Jan, 2020 4:01 pm

Kathmandu ladies size 10 softshell(?) pants, fairly slim fit and high waist.
These were given to me years ago by a well-meaning friend. Not sure what their intended area of use is ?? I think they were from the time when Kathmandu actually made good products.
They have ankle zips but as you can see the ankle gusset is reasonably small.
Happy to post at your expense.
