It looks a little bit like the view up the cox's river from splendour rock. I am pretty sure it's not really that, but figure I may as well put a guess out to keep things moving

Reminds me of looking up Megalong Valley from Tinpot Hill, but it's not quite right. Like jonnosan, trying to narrow it down a bit.

That's it, looking upstream along the woll valley. I think technically the photo is taken from the neck between the tableland and pic (from memory it's the saddle just before commencing the scramble up onto the pic itself, maybe give or take a couple of hundred metres?), but definitely close enough.

Thanks WFBW, I didn't recognise it at first. Then something clicked so I checked my own photos, which have a couple of similar shots.

See if anyone knows this spot in NSW:

Not the Coxs R. or Erskine Creek, but Erskine is not too far away.

Correction, I shouldn't draw maps in my head. I just measured the approximate distances to both of those (as the crow flies), and there is not that much in it.
General region but neither is close. To Coxs R. junction with Kowmung R. is ~30 km. To junction of Erskine Creek with Nepean R. is ~26 km.

Blue Gum Forest? No, still about 25 km away as the crow flies, but you are on the right course .

Not Tootie Creek. You're closer distance-wise, about 17 km to the southern end of Tootie Creek from here, but on a different river system.
The previous post had a significant clue, if slightly cryptic.

That's it jonnosan, we walked down Cabbage Tree Creek near Grose Vale then east along the Lower Grose.

Interesting problem.

I downloaded a copy of the image that you uploaded and had a look at the metadata for it. Weirdly, under Image Data > Orientation it was set to Bottom-right. I downloaded other photos that had been posted into this thread for comparison purposes and found that they either had no orientation data or had the orientation set to: Top-left.

A quick google search indicates that the phpBB forum software maybe interpreting the metadata (Edit: for creating the image thumbnail, that is what you see on the page in front of you) to compensate for phone and tablet camera orientation issues. I am not a programmer and don't have the expertise to dissect the forum software but this sounds plausible to me. Then again I may be wrong and you can ignore me.

Maybe try to edit the Orientation setting in the file metadata then re-upload the image and see if that fixes it.

Michael.

Close enough... Narrowneck is correct but from Radiata Plateau.

Thanks for the metadata tip although not sure how to correct it. I am not editing the photos on my PC at all.

This is your lucky day. My wife has the same phone (yes, the metadata also includes the make and model of phone). This solution to a related problem may be the answer: https://us.community.samsung.com/t5/Gal ... d-p/770399 . I checked this setting on my wife's phone and it is set to OFF. Also, the photo orientation setting is Top-left on my wife's phone.
