A random guess really, but I recall a spot on Doubtful Creek that resembled this.

A fair distance from Doubtful Creek but you're in the broad region.

Bringing the photo onto the current page:

Headwaters of the Snowy?

Hey John, I was at Tuross at the same time. Gotta love that area.
And he sees the vision splendid of the sunlit plains extended,
And at night the wondrous glory of the everlasting stars.

Small world :) Unfortunately no bushwalking this time but still a nice spot to relax for a week. I did get out on the lake in my packraft and a rented kayak.
And we took folding push scooters with us and rode the oceanfront cycle path. The drive was soul destroying though, seeing the devastating impact of the fires.

Sorry, not the Snowy. Guthega River was much closer.
EDIT: Correction/Explanation. The Snowy River is extremely close, but not the headwaters.

Thanks Stef. Wow, that was a cyclonic response - you know the park well. Yes, pretty much right next to the hut.

Thanks Zapruda, though everyone else did the hard work. It was still very much a guess based on the last clues and browsing the topo.

Apologies for another NSW but that is the bulk of my photos. I'll try and find something else next time:

Sure is. Looked through one of the caves, did the river track and had a swim in the thermal pool before walking out. Yours again crollsurf.
