Hiking Companions SE Queensland Area

Postby stumpy132 » Wed 25 Oct, 2017 12:25 pm

Hi There,
I am a 51 year Old Married Male, looking for persons interested in O/Nite or Multi Day hikes in Australia/ NZ. Longest Hike to date 198 Km , Enjoy the walk, environment & company, not a race. Hard to find similar people who share a passion for same. I am based in SE Qld, but open to persons from all area's, would just need to meet/ chat etc prior to jointly making a decision to head off.
Thanks for Reading, happy trails.

I've just joined this site so am unable to PM at this stage. Saw your post and thought I'd reach out. I'm a 50 year old, married male and am also interested in overnight or multi-day hikes. My one and only multi-day hike was a solo 165 km last year. Would like to do more but none of my small circle of friends are into hiking adventures. I have similar views to you on the hiking experience. I'm in Brisbane. Cheers.

Hi guys,
I've recently moved back to Brisbane after many years in Sydney. I have done several walks over weekends, including a couple of solo. My only walks that were longer were Routeburn + Greenstone and the overland. I am also keen to meet up with like minded walkers...

Still worth joining - there will be like-minded members who will be doing walks independent of the club walks.

With this heat the best walks are to local swimming holes, waterfalls & gorges...really anywhere there's cool running water to splash around in. 8)
Plus nice & early starts....before dawn.

Check out the various clubs walk calendars...gives you a wider chance of finding the right walks for you.
Some interesting walks coming up over the next 2 months in Ron's link above.
Mountains view are good for my soul...& getting to them is good for my waistline !

I was a member but quit. I am 64 years old and am an experienced walker, rock climber, mountain biker and camper. I did not like the petty regulations of the club and being treated like a child. I also do not like walking in large groups. I also don’t like to go to the after walk coffee at McDonalds where there is a nicer and more convenient located and locally owned cafe. To be told that the service is better at McDonalds and then have to wait 15 minutes for a coffee really sticks in my craw.

I was going to join Brisbane bushwalkers but they told me I first had to go to a meeting in Brisbane to join. This is a 4 hour return drive for me. There was no other join option. Silly petty rule for those that do not live in Brisbane.
