This is the most comprehensive list of Tasmanian Waterfalls currently available on the Internet. The list includes all the named falls registered with the Tasmanian Nomenclature Board (as at Aug 16, 2012) - see NB column. Locations are listed in decimal Latitude and Longitude as GDA94 datum so they can easily be copied into Google Earth.

The list is maintained through ongoing research about Waterfalls in Tasmania and from information supplied by forum members. There are more than 500 waterfalls in Tasmania, ranging from just a couple of metres high to over 100 metres tall. So this list of 250+ is by no means the full story. You are welcome to aid a waterfall to this list or contact a forum member who can do this. To add a fall you should preferably be able to supply the map coordinates and provide confirmation that the fall exists (i.e. recent visit, photo, etc.) - though any information is welcome. If you want to chat about any of the information here, just pop over to the forum.

The list of waterfalls names have been identified using information obtained from the Nomenclature Board of Tasmania, from the Tasmanian government website The List, from old edition of Tasmaps' 1:25000 maps of Tasmania, and from information supplied by forum members at the Bushwalk.com forums.

Multiple Drop Falls:
A number of named waterfalls have more that one drop and only a few incidents have been mentioned in the above list. Sometimes the second or third drop is just as impressive as the first. Sometimes the multiple drops are one after the other and together make an impressive waterfall (e.g. Quaile Falls). Sometimes you can be standing at a fall and be almost unaware you are only see half of it, or one drop (e.g. Cuckoo). Sometimes the multiple drops are a little distance apart along the stream (multiple falls e.g Forth), and each drop is impressive, but they haven't been given a separate names (as yet). When you visit looking for a named fall, and you find multiple falls (e.g. Moses Crk), it can be a little confusing which is the named fall. Often a fall will be given the name of the stream it is in. The stream might have multiple falls but only one is named after the stream and other falls might be (as yet) unnamed (e.g. Gads Creek). Falls close together are sometime difficult to separate even in official listings (e.g. Sprent and Lower Sprent) and multi-drops even harder because coordinates are rounded (to nearest map grid square) for Gazettal.

Google Earth:
To find a waterfall on Google Earth simply cut and paste the supplied Latitude and Longitude into the Google Earth "fly to" search.

Lost Falls

Leda Falls: What ever happened to Leda Falls? Have they been lost in time, or were they destroyed?
Forth Falls: Original there were 7 sets of falls. Lake Barrington (built in 1969) drown the lowest one and half falls.
Heemskirk Falls: The name originally applied to a set of falls drown but the flooding of the Pieman River.
