well formed sign posted track marked with pink tape. Drier than Tramway.
Bothe carparks are marked and the 3 way track junction to the eye of the needle
This is the least known but quickest and easiest access to Paddy's Lake and Black Bluff, although not as scenic as the Tramway Track. All junctions roughly sign posted at time of writing. Follow the signs to Leven Canyon and then Winterbrook Falls from Ulverstone. After leaving the sealed road do not follow the left turn marked Black Bluff - this is a long track used by horse riders. Turn right at the last turn off approx 500m before the Winterbrook carpark.
The track initially follows an old logging road. A few minutes from the start turn left at the first junction where it crosses another road. Very slight gradient through myrtle forest to next junction S41 27.282 E145 58.341 The track also has access to Winterbrook Falls lookout ( turn left here ) which can be done as a loop walk with the aid of a car shuffle or with a 30 minute walk downhill along the road back from Winterbrook carpark. The next junction at S41 27.318 E145 58.112 is the start of the 'Eye of the needle track' leading to Paddy's Lake and Black Bluff. The left fork will take you to the base of Winterbrook Falls. A good track with boardwalk leads from there to the Winterbrook lookout and the Tramway Track. Allow at least another hour return to visit these. Sheltered valley and easy gradient makes for a good walk in all but heavy downpour.
