Description

Challenging climb of Tasmania's 3rd highest peak - 1560m or very close to a mile high.

  • Overnight camping required to reach track start.
  • Access from Overland Track, Forth Valley Track or Arm River Track. Track to summit begins 250 m east of Pelion Creek crossing on the Overland Track but is NOT marked. The 1:25000 map position is given as approximate "looks like a wallaby run up between two fallen logs which are perpendicular with the high side of the track." (1)
  • Track proceeds through thick scrub and scoparia to access the eastern side of the 1 km broad mountain top - a further 600m across the boulder field of dolerite columns is required to reach the highest point.
