Bamboo and sea vegetables have a strong smell and are an acquired taste. If you have not tried them before, try them at home first so you are not in for a surprise. Bamboo and sea vegetables are rich in minerals, and are available in Asian or health food shops. Have a dessert tonight as the energy is less than 2000 kJ.

Fried shallots - 2 Tbsp or 12 grams
Dried bamboo - 10 grams
Sea vegetables - ⅓ cup or 5 grams
Lemon pepper - 1 tsp or 4 grams
Chicken stock - ½ tsp or 3 grams
Dried parsley - ½ tsp or 1 gram
Mixed peel - ½ tsp or 1 gram
Dried onion - ⅛ tsp or 1 gram
Dried garlic - ⅛ tsp or 1 gram
Ramen noodles (keep separate) - ½ bunch or 45 grams
Tin chicken (keep separate) - 1 tin or 85 grams
Water - 2 cups
Dried tofu (vegetarian option) - 10 grams
Vegetable stock (vegetarian option) - ½ tsp or 3 grams

At home preparation

1) Cut the bamboo into small pieces.
2) For the vegetarian option break the tofu up into small chunks.
3) Label the bags and place all ingredients into the allocated bags.
4) Copy or print out Method at camp and keep together with the bags.

Method at camp

1) In a pot add 2 cups of water and add the contents of Bag 1 (vegetable mix).
2) Soak for a minimum of 15 mins or until the tofu changes to a lighter colour.
3) After the soaking time bring the pot to the boil and cook for 3 mins.
4) Now add the noodles (Bag 2) and the chicken.
5) Cook for 2 mins.
6) Serve.
