Thanks all Echidna news contributors - I've not only enjoyed all the photos and news but have learnt so much more about the critters! Very entertaining. (BTW my sister-in-law kept a goldfish named Fluffy.)

Have you heard of Echidna CSI https://grutznerlab.weebly.com/echidna-csi.html. They have an app for iPhone and Android that lets you collect pictures etc of echidnas and send them off to scientists who are studying them.

Good point to keep an eye for them. A couple of weeks ago I was driving home from the shops after dark, along the local back road next to the nature reserve near our place.
Semi rural area and very dark, the only other car was ahead of me and suddenly swerved. When I got closer I saw the echidna waddling across the road.
Fortunately I was also able to avoid him but it was a close call.
