Just wondering how many members have one and use them.
We have several hundred firebricks here and as I don't look like getting the pizza oven I want we've been thinking of using them for a decent sized firepit for back yard camping adventures.
Feel free to post any pictures you may have for some design ideas. Here in Norlane that are not yet verboten, I think all the Maoris would revolt if they tried to do that.
I have a couple of cast iron truck brake drums, car wheels and washing machine drums we have used over the years but thinking of something much prettier.
We have a big chiminea in the carport as a space heater but nothing beats the companionship of an open fire.

I have a simple copper fire pit.

Basically it’s a shallow, wide bowl on a stand. Had a steel mesh spark guard, but the mesh rusted/burned out. I have an iron chiminea too - but prefer the fire pit as the fire is visible on all sides. And I can put bigger logs in.

My son in law made me a portable "firepit" from an old 9kg LPG bottle.
WARNING - This type of thing has to be done by someone who knows what they are doing and can make sure there is no gas vapour present when cutting.
It's a ripper, just right to drop an old circular "mesh" grill from an old 3 legged BBQ on top.
No burning the ground and the coals stay hot for a surprising amount of time.

Can't find it, was looking for some photos on here of a brick firepit set flush with the lawn. Pretty sure it was a 2020 project.

We could also talk about bush firepits.
For car camping we have a few options here, an old charcoal rotisserie thing that never worked properly that cast iron grates can sit on easily [ if you came to the Mt Franklin gathering it was there] but most often it's an old Ford Falcon rim in 17 inch and a few old bricks to sit it on and a sheet of old roofing to stop the ground from scorching too badly.
I have seen some very expensive titanium fold down fire boxes from various makers but not in person

A friend carries a 44 gallon drum cut in half lengthwise on his roof cage, when he goes camping. Works well if you have an empty cage.

Finally got the bricks mortared up and whitewashed.

The old semi-trailer brake drum makes a great pit and I have a cover for it that keeps out the rain.
I drilled a few extra air holes around the half way mark or the cover would be almost airtight. Makes great charcoal for the gardens.
About time I bought the kids their own knives
