Damn! Haha someone was lucky to have nabbed the half bag. My kids had been lucky users of it a couple of years ago.
Very generous PIF.

Love this forum!

Berghuis fleece, women's size small. Given to me years ago, looks pretty new.
295g on my kitchen scales.
Free to good home, I'll even contribute the postage from my stash of stamps.

If anyone would like these, they are offered on the basis that you pay postage. My stash of squirrelled postage stamps is almost empty!

Ski pants, USA "Serac" brand, size S/P. I bought these in 1998, in MEC Vancouver from memory, they have had one week's use. They appear not to have deteriorated whilst being stored. There is a small brown mark on one leg which can be seen in the first photo, I haven't tried cleaning it.

North Face shorts, these are a brownish-olive colour. They are size 8 but I reckon I was a smallish 10 when I wore them. They are a really nice pair of shorts.

Kathmandu size 10 zip-off pants, unworn. Zip pockets on both thighs. The fabric has some stretch and a nice rib finish. The waistband is not stretchy however.

Aldi l/s top, size M however it's more of a size 8. Has small mesh underarm panels.

TENT AND PACK ON WAY TO NEW HOMES NOW

Happy to PIF these on, but as they both are a little bulky to post, just would ask for postage costs to please be covered

Osprey Jib 35lt kids pack- looks very 'loved' but still functional and will get another little tacker out there I am sure.

Luxe Speed Up 1p pyramid type tent . Small hole in the fly low down, but I siliconed it over as I was seam sealing another tent. Weighs 1500ish grams

Re: Pay It Forward??

Postby Smellypaddler » Sun 27 Jun, 2021 2:24 pm

I've managed to take advantage of a new pack on this pay it forward thread and a member recently helped me out by sending a Wild magazine issue I needed at no cost. They simply said to pay it forward so here are a couple of things going for free to a new home.

Green HiGear Softshell jacket kids size 5-6. It has seen a bit of love but is still in great condition. It has a couple of marks on the front that might be stains or might come out with a decent wash. It is actually a pretty good Softshell, warm, breathable, water resistant etc.

Macpac kids mittens size 'small'. Made with Reflex fabric they should be waterproof. I would guess they would fit a 3-5 year old.

Macpac kids backpack. Made from canvas it is at a guess about 10 litres and made for little kids. It would fit about 3-5 year old (but only if you stuff them in really tight).

Giveaway time

The tent kindly came from Ms_Mudd and I was going to give to a friend who is just getting into walking but they ended up splashing out and buying a Mont moondance so it's up for grabs again. Rest is old stuff of mine

2x Dune Inflatable pillows
1x kathmandu regular pad
1x pacific outdoor aspen aerogel wonens petite pad
1x Luxe Speed Up 1p pyramid type tent . Small hole in the fly low down, but siliconed it over as I was seam sealing another tent. Weighs 1500ish grams (see image above in Ms_Mudds post of it erected)

The kathmandu pad had a slow leak I was not able to find when last used several years ago. The pacific outdoor one was fine when last used but again it was a long while ago. Pillows fine.

Pick up Caulfield South VIC (after lockdown) or I can post to you - would just ask postage be covered please

Free to a good home: My well travelled and well-used Lowe Alpine Kongur 55-75 litre pack.
- Rather dusty after a few years hung in the garage (I thought it might get used if I ever needed more capacity than its smaller, lighter replacement could provide).
- Outside zip on the lid is broken but could be repaired.
- Size is small I think, and I had the hip belt modified because it was still a bit big for my skinny waist. But still adjustable in both the hip belt and the back length.
- Weight 1.8kg
- Plenty of life in it yet.
- Pick up in Coburg North, VIC.

Re-posted from earlier:
ArmaSkin liner socks black "long" length https://www.armaskin.com/products/liner ... 8265988174
Worn once or twice, I'm guessing they are a Medium as I'm a women's size 8 shoe.
Again I'm happy to cover postage, I have a truckload of unused postage stamps.

I've got some LW stainless steel filter modules from a deceased range hood.
260 * 230 and 6mm thick. They are two sections which come apart easily.
Very thin steel so lightweight
I'm keeping 4 sets to use in various wood stoves as per the picture but if anybody want the others they will fit in a small satchel for about $9- and people are welcome to pick-up
As filter modules they need a modification to trap oil. New range hood modules are double the size so I can't use these again

I have a Xiomi Mi 10000mAh power bank that is surplus to requirements. It is a previous model (about 5 years old) that has a single USB-A port and a micro-usb port for charging it. It weighs 205g

Pickup from Brisbane inner south.

EOI

Half of an Exped flexmat plus M blue

These are the most deep dimply of the folding ccf mats.

I have one and kinda like it.

Considering cutting it in half to save bulk. A half should still work for shoulder to hip padding and insulation.

Full weight is under 500g so a half mat will be under 250g.

Let me know if you are interested in a half bubble foamie. Serious PIF and I'll cut. Cheers

Flashback to the first PIF post Moondog55

So i got to thinking last nite after visiting the hammock forum.

They have a big community and they have a permanent thread where they share gear on a pay-it-forward basis, the recipient pays postage only and gets the gear for free, the only requirement it that the last recipient has to put something else up on the site and send it on to the next person.
I am doing something similar for Andrew with a couple of pair of old and cheaper gaiters, so in a way I have already started.
(BTW Andrew i am still looking for pair # 3 on;y 1/2 5he pair so far )

I think it is a good idea if we can trust each other and postage costs can be locked in as there are the fixed price satchels at 3 & 5 kg

Any thoughts on the matter, obviously we all have stuff that we don't use, too good to throw away and not worth selling on ebay.

Good call Neo and I think it fair that the person who receives something should pass something on, but maybe not ASAP.
Beginners these days seem to have more money than I had when I first started bushwalking but perhaps it's the people with kids passing on clothing that has become too small who need the help.
I am going to be seriously destashing as my shed is too full, but perhaps not immediately

I cut the blue Exped listed above.

Didn't go exactly in half 6/6 panels and keeping 8 to be safe.

This means there is a four panel section up for grabs.

Confirmed it is available if anyone wants it! Awkward shape for Posties so may be around $15.

Measures 600x520mm folds to 150x70x530mm. TBC

Why carry a seperate sit pad when you're already carrying the remainder of it for sleeping?

FYI I'm not taking it so it's up for grabs.
