[Wanted Melbourne] Snake gaiters

Once an item is sold, found or thread is no longer needed we move it here. These maybe helpful for historic reasons.

[Wanted Melbourne] Snake gaiters

Would snake gaiters be required for the Great South West Walk in Portland victoria? I head out on 20 September. If so, I am keen to borrow snake gaiters as I am an annual hiker.located in inner west melbourne but could pay postage.

I think that the best snake gaters you can get are trekking poles.
They will feel you coming and leave the trail before you are there.

It will still be quite cool but any sunny days and they will be out basking. There will also be shinglebacks which can be mistaken for a snake at first.

Most of the track that I’ve seen is pretty clear, although there are sections not far out of Portland which are reasonably narrow and will have overhanging growth coupled with many many twigs on the ground….. all of which take on a snake-like appearance after a few sightings! I’ve also had stand-offs with snakes who weren’t so keen to move on.

What size are you after?

I'm planning on doing the GSWW in Dec, so I'd be very grateful if you could write a review of your trip. Enjoy your walk and time in bush. Hopefully the weather and tides are in your favour

I am trying so hard to imagine gaiters that:
- will stop crocodiles, or
- are made of crocodile, or
- are made for crocodiles
