Hi, I'd love to buy 3m x 1.5m of Tyvek (for a Mont Moondance 2).

Any news on Tyvek supply?

I'm thinking of buying the Mont footprint for my Moondance 2. How does the Mont footprint go against a Tyvek one?

I still haven't heard anything. Disappointed that I've paid, and received nothing & been unable to get into contact with Alex. This time of year someone should really be able to check up on Alex, just to make sure he is OK. I hear about too many people topping themselves at this time of year. Not a nice thought. Admin- can you give him a Christmas call just to make sure he is ok?

I was a bit worried about Alex. I hope you are in good health and spirits! Let us know how you are going. I received some tyvek today... so I'm thinking maybe he was just busy this time of year.

All the best for a great Christmas people. :)

I have some soft Tyvek 1443R for sale if anybody is interested
60inch roll width and I have 10+ meters, [ 11.5 m in total] $9- a meter plus postage or $90- for the lot plus postage
That's enough for 3 or 4 sleeping bag covers and I'm OK as I have mine
Simon of TierGear says that is a very fair price

It will probably fit in a foolscap business envelope. $8-?

Can I ask some dumb questions?

If the roll is 1.5m wide (ish) and my sleeping bag is say 2m long and I need a top and a bottom to the sleeping bag cover then I need 4 m right?
That makes for a 3m circumference (1.5 + 1.5) opening for the bag right which is pretty roomy right?

How is the deal done - its probably described on site somewhere - do I credit a paypall account or something similar or is there an off site dialogue between the parties to a deal

Thanks and Cheers

I found this source of Tyvek in the States for a 9 foot by 5 foot roll with "peel and stick anchors".

http://www.ebay.com/itm/UL-Hiking-Backp ... 2198320562

By my reckoning for a cover 9f = 2.74m (width) by 7 f = 2.13m long - at US$1.46 per foot after postage and currency conversion I get $33.55 at $64 cents to the USD. This compares favourably with $9 per meter and is available all the time it would seem not only when a member happens to buy a roll.

The 9 f width allows one sheet with two joins (foot end and a side) to form a sb cover whereas from what I can gather the 1.54 m width type roll would require 2 separate sheets and 3 joins (foot end and two sides) if I understand things right!

Cheers

The shipping is US$11.25 plus US$2.5 for each additional foot unfortunately, so it doesn't look like a cost effective source. If people request it I'm sure Simon at Tier Gear would get more in, which might be our best bet.

I will be getting hard structure and soft structure Tyvek in eventually, unfortunately I have just had a few other commitments in the last few months . It's on my list though.

Thanks for responding - I didn't spot that although it doesn't say "each additional foot" it says each additional item.
I will check if the increased weight / mass of each additional foot equates to increased shipping.

Of course it is preferable to buy from Australia so if Tier Gear come to the party then great.

To my main point about how much is required for a sleeping bag cover I appreciate advice.

Cheers

It's a tapered rectangle from memory; so you can get a top and bottom
I was given my SB cover so I never used the Tyvek I just sold

Try contacting the seller to see what they say but I tried adding various lengths to my cart and the shipping definitely goes up by $2.50 per foot beyond the first.

Dino rover - if you can wait a few weeks I have some 1443r tyvek on its way for a DIY I'm doing. I'm away for a few weeks, but it cost me a shade over $9/m. I might have around 4-5m extra.
