TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Jetboil 1.5L Pot - anyone using one?

Tue 29 Mar, 2011 12:33 pm

For a while now I have been considering buying a jetboil 1.5L pot, but using it one my snowpeak GST stove. This pot would replace a 1.5L billy when backpacking with at least one other.

Is/has anyone on here used one regularly as there main cooking pot (summer and winter)? What are your experiences and have you used it on a stove other than the jetboil?

Do you have issues with it burning food when doing cooking and not just boiling water? Have you ever cooked pancakes in it?

Also, has anyone found a better lid for it than the rubber it comes with?

Lots of questions but this pot has been playing on my mind for a while! Now that I have signed up, I might as well try and get them answered.

I have used one. It's generally fine, but I wouldn't recommend using it with anything other than the jetboil stove. I used it with a kovea supalight titanium, and the neoprene outside started to melt. It would be a total disaster if this caught fire, but with the jetboil burner it doesn't look like this is likely to happen, since the flame is very well concentrated in the centre of the pot - which is a disadvantage if you want to do anything other than boil water.
