TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Somewhere down the back of my cupboard is a paddy made tent .. I think it is the A two man, certainly green ... will have to look at the next tidy up. It would be about that '72 vintage .. if not earlier? Think I got Aluminium poles for it at the time? Is this saleable? In other words .. does someone want it?

Here is the Paddy Pallin Karkampa tent that I bought from Moondog; on a recent trip to the Larapinta - I was car camping. A lovely tent for the journey.

Hi All,

Strange request! We're shooting a film called Force of Nature (starring Eric Bana) in Melbourne at the moment and we're on the hunt for one of these Paddy Tents. Wondering if anyone knows of someone who would be open to selling/hiring to us.

Thanks in advance!

Ruby

Paddy Pallin may have one, or they can be made, reasonably simple, especially if it's japara.

Sale made and my old japara tent has gone to be a prop in a film. It's finally found a good home, look for it when the movie comes out, also my old PaddyMade rucksack.
Nice interlude.

Heheh that's so cool!

I grew up car camping in an old canvas A-frame tent, not sure of the brand but it was very similar albeit with a sewn in floor... somehow the three of us kids all fit in it. Heavy and bulky, but did the job and took only a few mins to pitch.

Scary to think just how far gear has come in the past 40 (or even 10-20) years.

I know afterwards I could have pushed for a greater price but I got what I asked for and after 30+ years of moderate use it was/is at the end of its life.
I did cheekily ask for tickets to the film tho.
The money I got is paying for dinner out with Cecile tonite.
It seems tho that it will need to be dyed green for the movie so will need a hot wash first.

Still got my stormtite japara Era tucked away here. Hopefully it hasn't fallen apart with old age - it was fine last time I checked :D

Over 50 years old now :D
