Wolffepack - Novel idea

First I should declare I am not related to this product.

Came across this Wolffepack line yesterday and thought it was really novel and made sense with its movable pack. They seemed to have models for photographer and outdoor types too. Not exactly cheap. What do you guys think?

Not sure how secure the pack will be when fully loaded. Would it flap around with just 3 cords used for pulling it together?

edit: Nevermind, I see it finally. You can take your pack "off" faster.

Not off but quickly swing and wear it on the front when needed. A very novel mechanism. Approx 1kg in weight for the pack.

I've asked the makers of these packs a question about the cord, is it cut proof, if not, I'd question its security.
If it has metal/wire threaded through like PacSafe items then I'd say it's good.

Yes, it's definitely a wear component and wondered of its durability. For some people, functionality and novelty trump durability. A price to pay.

I got a response back from them very quickly.
It went like this:
Our bags are attached to the harness on the back by 3 cords, one top, two bottom left and right. These cords are made out of Dyneema, a high resistance material used by rock climbers and astronauts. These cords are coated with high resistance nylon, and can hold weights of up to 300 kg. They are difficult, not impossible, to cut through. However, once the bag is on your back, they are hidden from sight and access. Once the bag is lowered, the bag is either held or hooked to your front, so even if someone took the time to cut through all 3 cords, they still could not get your bag.

Fair enough. At least being Dyneema, it's significantly lighter than metal cables.

Not a bad idea, and looks to be well done.

Getting good access to your camera gear in your backpack while hiking usually means you have to remove your pack and rummage through it to get hold of the camera. Not the best, but it does keep your camera gear safe and protected. That's how I did it for a long time, but have moved on... First was the Lowepro Photosport, which was a similar idea done different, you can swing the pack around to the front. Worked well, but not well fitted for anyone with a tall back and the shoulder straps were rather short. New models now, may have improved.

Second, and the pack I use now is the Mindshift Panorama. The pack stays on your back, but the camera case rotates around your waist giving access to your camera gear. Been well used for over a year, and no real problems. A really well designed and made pack. The only minor issue is accessing the camera gear with the pack off (or with the harness undone). Would I swap to a Wolfepack? Nope. I think the Mindshift is a better photographer bushwalker pack.

I like that thing, photohiker. Very well thought out design, including things like the 'tripod suspension kit'.

As a sometimes lift serviced skiier tho I do see the advantages for Alpine type Yo-Yo skiing, a little small for touring tho so just one more arrow needed to fill the quiver, will need to drop in price tho before Ican afford one, or I could get a divorce, I do like being married tho.
