Just was browsing Aliexpress and saw that the Lanshan 1 had been updated to be more of a traditional 'mid now. Looks to be a better design than the original Lanshan 1.
I am tempted to buy one as the Lanshan 2 has been such a surprisingly good tent for my family and I, but am saving myself for an X-Mid. I must remain true to my goal and not be distracted by Chinese bargain buying
Anyone purchased and had a play around with one? Pity there is no green coloured option.

If you are under about 1.6m maybe 1.7m and on a thin mat you should be right.

This is a good bit larger than many mids,
certainly the inner has a bit more room than my older model MLD Duomid
So 182 cms should be ok

Hope you don't get too breathless reading this.
I do like the design details of the new Lanshan 1, it seems to have originated from 3F ULgear
who have been around for a while so the quality may actually be OK.
I have been using my Duomid on long fishing trips on Tassies central plateau,
its a little bit fiddly to set up and needs quite a large site and lots of guys but certainly stands up ok in weather
Very roomy vestibule for gear/cooking on wet trips, a little droopy for me but good enough at 182 cm.
I have an inner from the Luxe Minipeak 2 which is 225x85cm so a little larger than the MLD inner.

johnrs, we are seeking much the same thing...perfection in a shelter. I would also prefer not to need to rob a bank to attain that perfection if I can help it.

I had looked at the Duomid, having one in DCF would be pretty great I think. I love the idea of a 'mid and its versatility in different weather conditions, which is why I am forever browsing and curious about other's experiences. I am also really keen to see how people like their X-Mid's.

I may yet pull the trigger on the Lanshan 1 pyramid to try it for the sake of it and give it a whirl over Winter.

and Dan has a two person XMid up on Massdrop at present

Actually, that is a great idea, I should review it after I get it. Firstly I should probably set about reviewing the Lanshan 2 which I have used for about ?15-18 nights now.

It is literally blowing a gale today. So what did I do? I set up some tents, including the Lanshan 1 and Luxe Sppedup. Have taken some photos and videos so will post them up soon. Shift working means I get these random week days off where playing with tents keeps me occupied. I walked 21km and had lunch in the snow yesterday, at least today's efforts can be done in my ugg boots and I have kept my facial wind burn to a minimum.
I did end up getting an X-Mid so thinking either the Lanshan 1 or 2 probably should shuffle on, but I will see. It is fun to have quite a few different tents to play in the wind with

That Lanshan looks a lot like a mid-tarp I bought from a forum member. Made by Terra Rossa and inspired by a SMD deschutes - looks the same but has more of a 'beak' where the zipper is.

My x-mid just arrived a couple of weeks ago so I am deliberating whether to keep the tarp - it is (was) my fave shelter for summer with a bug bivy.

This kind of design is really good I think - a little bit fiddly to set-up, and not for tall people, but very light.

The Lanshan looks like a steal for 100 US with a bathtub inner - what is the build quality like?

It really was the tent that I did not need to buy, potentially have no use for and did have to have some argy bargey with the Chinese seller over , but it is a nice bit of tent nonetheless.
The build quality is as good as my Lanshan 2, the seam taping is all bang-on. I seam sealed the guy outs yesterday and as I mixed too much silicone up, I got a bit sealing happy and sealed all the seams, but there was no need to. I find the bathtub floors in both Lanshans to be a nice height and well supported by the shock cordage going to the outer. In comparison, The Luxe tent pictured also, has a very shallow floor that even if well supported/held to it's full height, would be shorter than my mat height...not that I can even work out how to attach it properly to the inner on the Luxe anyway.
For me, I think the bathtub floor material is a little thin on both of the Lanshans to not pay some attention to with site selection. With my heavily used Lanshan 2, I have used a cheap $2 space blanket for a groundsheet which has sufficed, no tears or holes in the floor on a variety of terrains. I do always do a bit of a quick visual and tidy up before pitching though too.

Congrats on getting your X-Mid now. I was so disappointed that I missed out in the original lot. So disappointed in fact that I bought another tent. Pleased I am in on the next drop though so should have my X-Mid by September, although it seems like forever away. I think I will be set for a good while with my tents after the XMid arrives, although am considering getting the solid interior for my Lanshan 2....then I will be set

I curse myself! I couldn't resist a purchase either, of a tent that I strictly don't have a need for. I think a sub 1kg tent for that price was still not a baaaad buy though I am hoping you are as happy a Lanshan owner as I am though, I never thought I would use the LS 2 as much as I have. I am still curious about the one you bought though, I probably should have just bought it if I was impulse buying as it could have had some use for me in Winter with the more trad pyramid style offering a bit more protection from the wind and or/spindrift if caught in the snow. Post pics when you get it JohnnomcJohnno, just don't let me buy one too!

Thanks John. Honestly it was my second pitch and yes, the first pitch was fiddly and quite frankly gave me the poos resulting in it being put in my gear shed for a week or two until yesterday.

I ended up modifying the peak/door guy outs as I did with my Lanshan 2 and also changed the height I was trying to pitch it originally at and it was soooo much easier to do that way, those two little tweaks meant it was up and as you see it in no time. Despite the wind, I haven't had to go and tweak the pitch again at all .

The trick was to set my pole at 120cm, not the 125cm I always set my Lanshan 2 at unless it is raining. That simple 5cm height reduction made the world of difference. The other thing I did was to cut the peak and door guy line. They come as one peg out point, which makes it annoying to try and get the tension just 'so' for the doors to function well and the peak to be guyed out securely. I also added some black shock cord to the door loops, so I could get a good tension on that vestibule panel, while still being able to open and close the doors under easily. This mod means you need to carry one more peg and potentially have one short piece of guyline that could get 'lost', but if left connected to the doors via the black elastic as shown, it has seemed to stay put with my other Lanshan and I am yet (!) to lose that section. Just snapped some pics which hopefully shows what I mean.

My Lanshan 1 arrived today, almost exactly 1 month after ordering. Clearly I don't have the pitching skills of Ms_Mudd.

Maybe not, but it's a lovely colour.

The pole height looks wrong or maybe it's just not perpendicular to the ground. The corners appear to have too much tension.
But most often these type of tents (trekking pole supported) need several trys before getting it right.
To fix I would try to release the corner tension, increase the pole height and then pull the corners in tension again.

Thanks Franco, all good tips. I did as you suggested, backed off the corners, raised the pole 5 cm and it's now looking a bit more like the tent in the advertisements. Will play around with it a bit more before I post another photo. My last 20 years of bushwalks have been with freestanding dome tents, never had a trekking pole tent before, but I'm enjoying the challenge.

Ha! My skills are not great. Clearly there was no pic put up of the first time I tried to pitch the LS1, when I cracked the poos, swore and put it back in my gear shed for two or so weeks before bringing it back out for the photos in this thread

Love the rich colour of it, looks better than it did in the adverts. Pitching issues aside, I like how the fly edges come down so close to the ground, I think that is a good improvement for cold weather usage.

It's off to the Blue Mountains at the end of July, so hopefully will be able to report on its cold weather ability. Never had a red/magenta/fuchsia coloured tent before. Dare say I will have no trouble spotting it should I wander away from camp.

My winter tent is a nice shade of eye burning orange, so also is a glowing beacon I am heading to the Blue Mts shortly myself, yes I imagine it will be nice and chilly there. If I spot a fuschia tent in my wanderings, I will be sure to holler out a hellooooo as I will know it surely must be you!

Interestingly enough, I bought the Lanshan1 as a conciliatory measure for myself as I missed out on an X-Mid. I did end up getting in on an X-Mid (ships in Sept) so sold the Lanshan 1. I sold it for $80 incl post I think?
It cost $170 shipped to my door brand new from Aliexpress. It was good, you wouldn't want to be super tall though as I imagine your feet or head would brush the netting. I am only 162cm ish tall, so loads of room for me in it.
