TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Squeaky daypack

Postby gbagua » Mon 07 Jun, 2021 6:42 pm

Hello,

I got an Osprey Syncro 15L DP and the thing is just annoying the hell out of me. It squeaks non-stop, the noise comes from the back area in the tubular section that hosts the aluminium thin bars that keep the pack upright.

It's a 3-year old pack and still in good condition but if I can't fix this issue, I'll unfortunate have to get rid of it.

Any solutions to this problem?

Cheers :)

Or just take the aluminium bars out. My packs are all frameless, including a couple old ones that started life with those aluminium bars. It'll also shave a couple hundred grams off your base weight.

Thanks fatcanyoner but before I do that, I'll see if Osprey's official recommendation I just found online works first:

"This sound is sometimes caused by the material (under tension) moving against the frame. In order to resolve it I would advise that you spray the corners and sides of the frame (through the fabric) with silicone spray. Once it has been sprayed you should find that the creaking noise stops."
