TIP: The online
Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Thoughts on the Patagonia torrentshell rain jacket?
https://www.patagonia.com.au/products/m ... -85240-cnyDoes anyone use this as their bushwalking rain jacket?
How has it held up(dwr and overall water proofness) over time?
Have you done any scrub bashing in it?
Other comments?

I have one. In Tasmania I did Western Arthurs (with a brief scrub bash), Frenchmans and other walks. Mostly in rain of course. I'm not sure how you can possibly use this sort of gear to stay dry in such conditions. The purpose for me is protection from wind and sleet and this worked well. But in QLD I found this jacket useless. So my personal verdict: good wind proof jacket, packable to small size, fairly lightweight, decent water protection, useless for wet warmer weather. Still has no damage from scrub. Cheap when I got it.

Cbee do you have the 3 layer jacket or the older 2.5 layer model?

Not sure, there's nothing to indicate that information on any of the tags. But I would think is a 2.5 layers because is lighter than the specs of the 3 layers.

Thats good to know. The 3 layer version should have improved durability.Though breathability is unlikely to improve.
I've never found any jacket works in wet, warm and humid conditions anyway. I usually just use them to create a micro climate that keeps me comfortable and have another fast drying base layer to put on when I reach camp.

I remember a day on the beggarys with constant freezing rain, sleet and wind with that jacket and I was totally wet, but warm. As long as I kept moving... I never managed to stay remotely dry in Tasmania.
