TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Any advice on who could make a waterproof pouch cover

Postby Hiking Exped » Wed 17 Aug, 2022 4:40 pm

I’m looking for any advice on who can make or where I can purchase a waterproof cover for an admin pouch I often wear on long expeditions or multi day hikes.

I like to wear an admin pouch on my sternum strap which is sort of an emergency pouch too. My old Tasmania Tiger admin pouch came with a little waterproof cover in the base that you just pulled over, like many pack covers.

However, I’ve upgraded the pouch, but it came with no cover. Currently using an old piece of gortex jacket and some elastic bands :D

Just need a little lightweight waterproof cover with elastic or pull cord like a mini pack cover.

Dimensions of pouch would be about 10cm deep by 24 height and 22 width.

Anyone know where you can purchase something like that or anyone who makes them.

Thanks all!

Sounds so simple anyone with a sewing machine could make one from some waterproof or water resistant fabric.

But my curiousity is piqued: What do you put in your "admin" pouch? BTW, I had to google "admin" pouch.

Thanks Warin will check that out…

I guess it depends where I am going and what for in relation to what is in my admin pouch Sandym…..

PLB
Compass
Survival kit
Pocket knife
Spork
Phone
Power bank
Sat phone (sometimes)
Blister kit
Fire starting kit
Kit repair kit
Mini torch
Chemlight
First field dressing
Plastic bags
Water purification tablets
Painkillers

It’s like an emergency/admin pouch. I take it with me always around camp, etc as could live off the pouch alone for quite a while :P

A military thing maybe :D

MYO…if you can’t sew, then double sided tape and appropriate fabric….or learn to sew. Then you can resolve all your gear issues!

Learning to use a sewing machine is on my list of many things to accomplish, but it’s sadly quite low down on my priority list due to far too much to see and do. As for double sided tape, that brings back memories of my Blue Peter projects that always fell apart

I think I’ll stick for finding someone that’s mastered a sewing machine :D
