I might give these a try next time I go any distance from a loo. I wonder if you can drop them into compost toilets? They claim to be compostable.

Beats making poo stew with a stick, water and a cathole.

I doubt that it would break down fast enough to go in a compostable toilet.

Actually, I have been tempted to try the poo-tube and bagging approach. I do get sick of digging holes, and there are some places/conditions which make it a very labour intensive process - frozen ground, rooty or rocky terrain. Not real sure that bagging and burying is a good approach though.

I was thinking more of bagging and then tossing it into a composting loo when I came across one.

Is this some new meaning of the word bivy that I was previously unaware of. I always thought bivy was an individual thing. The two words group and bivy don't belong together in my way of thinking.

Is bag and bury not an option?

seems like a lot of $ when you could do the same with a normal snap loc and empty it into the loo.... and if you bury it well in an isolated/less frequented area do you need to? good idea but i'm not convinced.... suck if ya got a burst bag.......

What do you do with the ziploc bag afterwards?

well i'd put it in my rubbish bag done up.... don't think i'd like to recycle it that much but please yourself i guess..... if ya wanna laugh check out :
