Ok Guys, as a minimum what FlyFishing gear do you take on a Hike in trip?? What weight do you allow yourself?

1 Box of flies, leader material, floatant, forceps, rod (always have a spare in the group) and reel.
I've stopped taking waders, I take Keen rafting sandals instead to wet wade in and for after hours.

Its depends a little with me where i'm headed. I usually try to keep things pretty basic, much the same as Daniel, but waders and a vest/daypack combo usually end up tucked in there somewhere. Steep nasty hills, like the Juno Creek track into Meston frighten me into leaving even more out though!

It depends on how long I'm going out for. When going on a day walk I take my vest and two fly rods, a 6 weight and 4 weight. The walks being about 3 hours of walking into whatever lake. When going on longer trips I tend to take a couple of fly boxes some spare leaders and tippet material. I don't take waders or bother with a landing net or sinking lines.
My main concern is to take gear that is suitable for all weather conditions, here in Tassie we can have the 4 seasons in a day. It means that I make sure I have at least 5 layers of clothes for top and 3 layers for bottom ( 2 thermal T shirts, a shirt, thermal jacket and water proof jacket, thermal long johns under light weight trousers and water proof over pants).

i take a small rod (3wt, 6'5"), reel, one tiny flybox of flies, 2 tapered leaders, tippet spool, floatant, forceps and clips...plus license. I wear a columbia fishing shirt , and quick dry pants, and leave the waders and wading shoes at home.
