Thought some of you might be interested in this idea for a backpack swag/shelter. I couldn't find that is has already been discussed but please forgive me if it has. http://www.charity.org.au/p/1020084/sale---buy-for-me---backpack-bed-swag---up-to-7-x-more-waterproof-than-canvas.html

I am toying with the idea of buying one to see what it is like since I have a few dollars to spare. If it is really bad I will just resell it on Ebay.

I hate the color but if they make it in better colors it might be useful as an overnight shelter, well... if you aren't too big that is, especially for the kids. It seems a bit squishy, especially if you have to add a couple of blankets.

I guess it depends what you want it for, way too heavy for backpacking , also probably too warm for tropical summer. I like tents.

I was looking at these the other day. It's an awesome idea and it's cool for a swag. Uses quality materials and is very well made. it has features that other swags don't, such as seam sealing, etc. Might be cool as something to keep in the car for emergencies or as a simple single swag, though I wouldn't use it for much else.

keep in mind that $200 is not cheap, and 4.7kg is not light. cheaper backpacking tents of reasonable quality run at $100 and are about 2kgs... combine that with a cheap ensolite pad or even a high quality thermarest style mat or so and you have a sleep system which is roomier, comfier, more versatile, is the same price or cheaper and half the bulk/weight.
