Hi, Im after some advice on how to mend a tear in my rain jacket. It is a Montane Superfly XT and therefore Event waterproof membrane. And i have a small tear on the sleeve near the wrist approx 4cm long. Do i treat it like a sleeping mat and glue on a patch? if so, where would i find such a patch? any advice would be appreciated.

Small bit of fabric on each side and a thin smear of roofing silicone is what I have used in the past

you can get gore tex patches at outdoor shops. but i was told that they dont last long.
sailmakers tape is another option, sticks and lasts well.
theres also the patches you get for repairing nylon gear like thermarest.

strewth, that didn't take long.. scrub bashers  :) I havent got around to repairing a pair of event pants with a rip. Duck extreme on the inside has held up ok. You could try the clear invisible thermarest patches (and glue) depends on how neat you want it on the outside i guess. You could have someone do a pro job but i doubt it would be invisible. Sounds like remote equipment repairs (in melb) do a good job, doubt they'd be cheap?? That model has that big hang flap in the collar??, may make good patching material (for the future as well..)
