Packs with frames

Hey all, what is the experience of you folks out there with the large packs with frames. I recently go the hump with my MACPAC Torre and went back to an ALICE pack like I used in the army. A strong frame makes carrying large packs so much easier. For example the Deuter Kid Comfort 2 has a kickarse strong frame and makes carrying sleeping kids so easy (the kids put on 5kg when they fall asleep - fact!). Does anybody know of any bushwalking backpacks made these days with similar strong frames?

I have not seen an " external frame" pack here for a while apart from the occasional ex army in a disposal shop, but this is a selection to get you started :
http://www.backcountrygear.com/camping- ... packs.htmlabout the only places you will see them discussed are the hunting forums (like Kifaru , a manufacturer of hunting/military gear, under Home -message boards)

Keep your eyes open at garage sales and the Op-Shops.
my old Macpac needs a tiny bit of work but it only cost me $20-
I don't think they carry any better; unless it is drums or deer carcasses you are humping, but they do ventilate better and are cooler in really hot weather.
