TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Waterproof Breathable skirt?

Postby under10kg » Thu 08 Dec, 2011 12:11 pm

I am buying an light eVent jacket by Rab called the Demand smock
SInce this jacket does not cover my shorts I had the thought of a short eVent rain skirt to cover my shorts.
This would be very well ventalated (expecially if no pants!) and much better than eVent rainpaints.
I did notice a site that had cuben rain skirts at Zpacks
Anyone know if this item is available anywhere in Event?

You mean kilt, or did you really want a skirt, show off the soft side?? Anyhow, iirc have seen the question asked before with no luck. I guess the builders think event not necessary with such air flow??
(please not cuben with no jocks) (not in Tassie at least.. somewhere needs to draw the line  :) )

lol. The black cuben zpacks uses isn't see through. Yeah, I don't think breathable would be necessary. I've used my zpacks one a couple of times now. Apart from looking a bit silly I think it's great. Massive amounts of ventilation and because the cuben is stiffer than say silnylon it holds its shape and doesn't stick to your legs.

The silhouette would be enough  cuben kilt makes sense (then making sense isn't everything :) )

There is no reason for using WPB fabric for a kilt as there is more than enough ventilation. This is the same for ponchos and capes. The main thing you want is a waterproof fabric that doesn't cling to the skin.

Now thats a pity!

:D

I wear a pack with large front balance pockets for long walks so I think wearing a skirt will just add to the effect of being a bit strange!
Cuben seems to be the go.

Visions of commando style, swinging free & easy, cooling breezes, sweeped through my mind....
then reality kicked in, and my thought turned to leaches, ticks, horse flies, jack jumpers or a bull ant heading northward

Then I re-read your post and spotted 'rain skirt to Cover my shorts'....phew !
...but I like the idea though
Mountain views are good for my soul...& getting to them is good for my waistline !

Zpacks may also make one from the nylon backed cuben they sell? I have a sample, a kilt would likely hang.. even better after washes and material is tough++
