Ridiculously large price hike. I bet this is cause a lot of people switched to freedom plans due COVID.

I think kiwis get it worse than Oz. My mail says A$37.00 to $54.00.

Canada went from $29 to $49 but overall still less than the Australian /New Zealand 'cause we can' tax.

Pretty much confirms they paid the ransomware back in July and want customers, not the owners, to pay for their incompetence. They are also now high risk targets for this to happen again. Shame, the InReach Mini looked good.

might be paying for an infrastructure upgrade against the likes of future cyber attacks... also the massive amount of infrastructure they have costs x amount to maintain, if people are suspending their subscriptions with covid then the cost per person is driven up. you'd normally expect with bigger uptake of a technology the cost per person would go down...... given the price hike there may be a large no of people downgrading or stopping their subscriptions.. and charging people to suspend the service may not have halted that much.
surprised spacex havent developed a similar problem. theres also the potential rise of world wide satellite internet instead, to a certain extent a rival to iridium and inreach.
