Yeah saw this. I was pretty intrigued! Does the Fenix 6 Pro have the same dual solar tech? It doesn't seem to get the same GPS battery time.

As far as I can see, this is basically a Fenix 6 (non pro model) with awesome solar charging. Unfortunately it doesn't have map capability... Unless someone works out a way to hack it in there. That was never possible with my Fenix 5 because there wasn't the storage capacity to do it. Although seeing as this has no music etc perhaps it doesn't either. I want a 'Garmin Hike' - with this super long battery life and topo maps / GPS nav... the basic ABC functions. Most of the other bells and whistles I can do without.

Perhaps so, though I think I saw it has a more efficient processor, along with the two solar cells rather than just the one behind the face.

Absolutely.

I'm quite tempted... But might wait and see if this also comes to the next Fenix first.

I have a fenix 6, and it has 100% replaced my usual GPS. I''s actually an amazing piece of tech. I can do an overnight bushwalk and battery life is enough for the trip without charging, and I don't need to baby it through water/swimming.

Anyone want to buy a used Garmin etrex 30?
Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful.

Is the battery for walkers that much better than the Fenix though?

Fenix 6x claims 60 hours GPS mode
Enduro is 70 hours.

Though there may be some differences in the GPS 'ping' time and thus full accuracy of the route record.

Which makes a difference if you're a runner and precisely comparing runs / tracking athletic performance.

But for walkers a less regular ping time eg 60 seconds vs 1 second doesn't make that much difference as we don't cover that much ground in 60 sec

Biggest bonus for me would be if the enduro causes Fenix 6x pro prices to drop.

Even better would be if the solar recharging actually charged the battery fully rather than just giving it a small boost.
