Might be because Parks have had their budget slashed and are surviving on a shoestring.

Looks like a case of the poor man pays twice (or thrice!)

Just stumping up the cash to do it properly once would have been far cheaper than all this bandaid rubbish.

It's clearly not the same issue that brought the feed down last time.
I'm sure they know but jic you could tell them. For all we know the camera could have been swiped?

It had never crossed my mind it might have been nicked, but would be a perfectly reasonable explanation I guess.

Thanks Nuts
There is a decent amount up on the mountain.
It would be nice to see a photo of Kitchen Hut, you would have to use the upper level access. :)

Last time I saw that much snow on Cradle the Face Track was closed. Be brilliant to be up there right now.

Unfortunately, the road to Dove Lake is closed at the boom gate (old ranger station / 'interpretation centre'), and is unlikely to be opened tomorrow, or necessarily the next day. So it's probably an extra quite a few kms of road walking before you get to start. :( I spoke to a ranger this arvo, and the main problem is that the huge piles of ploughed snow on the sides of the road have now turned to ice, in some places leaving less than a car width to get through. There's nowhere left to plough it to.

Neither the parks website nor the police road closure alerts were up to date as of a short time ago.

We're going with plan B. :)

Looking at the webcam this afternoon,
there are no cars or people at Dove Lake car park.
So the road is still closed. :?

Yep it is. Apparently the snow ploughers will reassess at about 8 am tomorrow, but they still may not be able to cut through the heaps of ice - they tried today. Sounds like the earliest possible time it could reopen would be about 9 or 10am, but there's still no guarantee of opening at all tomorrow.

From a few years ago, but my two favourite photos of Kitchen Hut are in this linked topic. Unfortunately, my photo is not as good as the other person's. I got there a few days after she did.

Notice that the web cam is out of action again.
Hasn't come back on line since 6:44 PM on the 30th of April.
Thought the power may be off at the car park but it seems a bit long.

Parks now have a notice in red stating there is an issue with the webcam
due to a fault with the Telstra router. Telstra have been notified and will fix ASAP.
(Well done to Parks for the note)

That's no good. I thought the whole point was to see how many parking spaces were available.
