Dove Lake spaceship. Enough said..

Update
The webcam at Dove Lake has been removed for servicing and is awaiting parts from overseas
Tue 30 Jun, 2020 2:45 pm
And when it's finally back online, the landscape will be unrecognisable.

Pretty sure the large timber viewing 'shelter' is designed to be symbolic of a giant coffin housing the remains of something once truly beautiful...

Yep, with facial recognition software - been subject to cyber attack.

Just noticed that the webcam is finally black online.
Thanks to the Parks Staff for getting it back up and running

Does anyone else think the camera angle is a bit high ( I can only see a little sliver of Dove lake ) or is it just me ?
Pity they dont have a time lapse camera like the Anglers Alliance set up where you can scroll across the screen to see the changing moods of the weather.....

No, it's not just you. Thing is definitely set too high. We don''t need that much sky in the frame.
Thu 27 Aug, 2020 10:38 am
They don’t want us to see the work going on in the old car park

Yes it looks a bit high to me as well. Also the horizon isn't level - my pet hate but I'm a bit OCD with thngs like that.
Is it mounted on the walker's registration shelter?

Even better, one that you can control yourself remotely like the one in Scenic World at Katoomba, which seems to be still offline.

Yeah whoever framed up that position needs a talking to re: the basics of composition.
That said, at least it's back online. Would be great if they could do the time lapse setup that Angler's Alliance use. And upgrade the camera to something of better quality (aka. Mt Wellington, Arthur's Lake etc.) rather than recording our most famous mountain with a potato cam...

They probably dont want us seeing the dozers and excavators building the new "shelter"

Excavator in today’s photo

Yep - they dont want us to see the building works...
The current field of view for the webcam is the best that can be achieved to give a sense of the prevailing weather conditions without making it a view of the current work site at that location. The team at Cradle are currently investigating options for improvement of the
range of view.

Yes, no running critique unfortunately.
Thanks to the responsible parky for getting it up again

You'd think the construction supervisors would want the camera to show what''s going on. They could do their job sitting in a nice warm office.

Nice to see the webcam is up and running again

Am I right in saying the position of the camera has been moved closer to the lake?
Sun 27 Dec, 2020 10:53 am
Certainly looks to be higher than it was previously and further west. Maybe its up on top of the old toilet block somewhere or the western end of the new transit station?

Noticed that the Webcam at Dove Lake is failing again.
Stuck on 20th September 12:42PM
Disappointing seeing the Anglers Alliance Webcams are so much better to use.
Plenty of snow up there today as well.
Edit, just heard that all comms are down at Cradle since yesterday afternoon
Fri 24 Sep, 2021 6:55 am
The webcam is back online
Mon 04 Oct, 2021 1:37 pm
They were probably doing something in front of it they shouldn’t have been ie ripping out trees etc
Thu 25 Nov, 2021 3:53 pm
The webcam has been stuck on 7.03am
All day today
Nice photo though
Sat 27 Nov, 2021 5:23 pm
The webcam started working again yesterday
Noticed today it is stuck on 6.30AM
Tue 07 Jun, 2022 3:21 pm
Just when it would be nice to have the webcam up and running it is stuck on 2/06 11:37AM
Wed 08 Jun, 2022 10:52 am
Noticed it's been dead for a while. Waaaaaay more snow up that way currently.
Also I really wish whoever runs the Ben Lomond cams would learn to wipe the ice build up in front of them on a semi-regular basis!
