Lightning strikes cause Fires

Postby Overlandman » Sun 19 Dec, 2021 12:10 pm

From Parks and Wildlife

Plan ahead before heading out walking

A number of tracks have been closed in the Lake St Clair area due to fire from lightning strikes. Please remember to check for current alerts and closures when planning to walk in our national parks and reserves.

Check the Parks and Wildlife Service Alerts https://parks.tas.gov.au/explore-our-pa ... -go/alerts and the Tasmania Fire Service Alerts http://www.fire.tas.gov.au/fire
Stay safe.

Scary news. Unfortunately despite what seemed like a very wet spring, things have dried out very fast in the past few weeks of warm weather. Recent uptick in strong(er) winds probably isn't helping matters either. Hopefully the forecast rain later today slows the fires around Rufus and the Eldons.
