Fake or fraudulent gear websites

Postby Petew » Thu 01 Sep, 2022 10:32 am

Hi All,

Just thought I would let you know there is a fake macpac sale doing the rounds on Facebook and Instagram.

I contacted macpac to let them know and they have confirmed it's a fake and are dealing with it.

The fake site linked to these Facebook/Instagram adverts is:

Kemalalilu.myshopify.com

Dodgy as!

Please post/report any scam sites in this thread.

Cheers,

Pete

Fake or fraudulent gear websites

Yep, seeing same sort of stuff for Kathmandu, too.
Also with mistyped/misspelt URLs.

Always check the link by going to the official web page, rather than clicking the ad. If there really is a sale, they'd be advertising it there for sure.

Fake or fraudulent gear websites

I guess it was hard to spot hidden account all those other 50% sales that Macpac has every other week...
Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful.

Along similar lines, there appear to be multiple suspect Scarpa shopfronts operating as "Scarpa Australia" eg https://www.scarpaaustralia.com/scarpa- ... -p-68.html

Same goes with Salomon shoes (ALERT! SCAMMERS' SITE):

https://www.forcesausshop.com/mens-c-1. ... PINE%20PRO

The URL redirects you to the scammers' link but the web search displays a different domain name which is:

Salomonbootsaustralia.com

You'll never receive any goods! :) That's how they lure you in. In fact they also got all your details including credit card ones. So basically you are an endless phishing target. They'll try to milk you out like a fat cow.

Multiple honeypots is what scammers have setup online, it's a minefield if you search for dirty cheap deals which are always dodgy.

Yeah, I got screwed a few years ago when I thought I’d bought some RAB down pants off some site .

A pair of cheap sunglasses arrived. Sadly, I tried to buy the same down pants again, and got another pair of sunnies. Website was gone when I went searching for it after that. However, that’s the only time I’ve had a problem. Sad that I was stupid enough to do it twice. Does anyone want some cheap sunnies for $200?!

Had one on my phone the other week "We missed you for a delivery. Go to http://www.something to arrange re-delivery"

I'm not expecting anything. Check - firm exists in Oz, ... but the website is 2 days old, .com not .com.au like the real firm and located in Russia. So I'm not going to that website.
