Overnight Walks - Northern Tasmania

Sat 28 Jan, 2017 6:29 pm

Hi,

I'm hoping for recommendations for an overnight walk somewhere in the Northern Tas area. Neither my mate nor myself are particularly experienced, though we have been into WOJ overnight, and I have also done Ossa overnight via Arm River, and Frenchman's Cap, and numerous day walks.

I'd love to return to WOJ, but with the road still being out it's not possible over one night/two days.

Cheers,
Geoff

Roland and the Fossey Range can be done as a casual overnighter.
Ben Lomond offers plenty of options. Mostly off track, but it's very easy open country.
Higgs Track onto the Central Plateau and wherever your fancy takes you from there. Ditto with Western Creek Track or something like Blue Peaks Track from Lake MacKenzie.
Do a car shuffle and try the Black Bluff Range traverse (part of the PCT), or some variant of it (there is more than one option for getting up to the range from the northern end). You could also do Black Bluff from Belvoir as an out-and-back two dayer.
If all else fails you can always go into Cradle Mtn and do a loop via Scott Kilvert with sidetrips to Waterfall Valley and/or Barn Bluff.
