No Cars in Tasmania?

Sun 21 Mar, 2021 8:52 pm

Hi BW community!

So I have a six day Tassie trip to do a bit of walking booked from Easter Sunday until the following Friday. Just jumped online to sort out a hire car - NOTHING!

Apparently all the car hire companies in Tasmania sold all their cars due to COVID, and now borders have opened, it's impossible to find anything. Visitors have been BUYING cars for a week and then selling when they leave

Any ideas from the brains trust? If someone in Hobart has an unused car, PM me and maybe we can work something out.

What a disaster!

Do you need a hire car?

I have used taxi's for out of season walking access. Best was taxi to Scott's Peak.

How much was the taxi from Hobart to Scotts Peak Dam?

It was few years ago now, a couple of hundred.

From memory there was a fare calculator on one of the websites and all the quotes I got were within a few dollars of what the calculator said.
