Federation Peak logbook

Postby creeping_moses » Tue 31 Jan, 2023 10:24 am

FYI, there is currently no logbook at the summit of Federation Peak as at 28/01/2023.
The previous log book which was deposited in February 2009 was full.
The logbook has been returned to PWS who will replace the book ASAP.
If you are heading in soon, you may wish to take a replacement book (Spirax A5 Red and Black Notebook a good choice), some pens, pencils and sharpener.

Wow, the summit must have seen some serious visitation over the Xmas break (hardly surprising, really). Plenty of spare pages when I was up there in November.

The number of entries in the logbook from 2022 and Jan 2023 compared to previous years is astounding.

I am leaving Huon Campground on Tuesday to walk through the Eastern Arthurs, aiming for Federation Peak somewhere bewteen Friday and Sunday. Does anyone know if there is a new logbook in situ?

Haven't heard anything, but if you can spare the slight weight take one anyway and see maybe?
(If you do put one in, put a message at the end to return to PWS Huonville and mark the front and back pages, otherwise people end up writing from both ends...)

An update from PWS - a fresh logbook has been placed in the box at the summit.
