Druids

Postby tigercat » Fri 22 Mar, 2013 4:10 pm

I am thinking of climbing the Druids before winter, anyone got any track suggestions? Starting point off Scotts Peak Rd?

You can do a circuit over Celtic, but it's a bit scrubby inbetween. This way up Druids is all open.

Nice big car park not far before Condiminium Creek right? I'm thinking of heading down there soonish when I get a free day.

Park your car were you can and walk up the hill, I have heard it is a relatively straight forward off track walk. *But that was from someone who does a lot of off track walking ;)

Last time I passed there(around a month ago) there were bee hives in the carpark :) If no visibility make sure you go on the north side of the spur, the south side looks pretty crappy.
It's a very nice little peak!

I finally got there. Amazing sight as I climbed above the clouds to see the peaks above. No scrub as long as you avoid it!

Nice, Dan! Think I live at the wrong end of the state. One of these days I'll go home.

As the photos would suggest, between Mt Anne and Lake Pedder.

Just a daywalk, so a clear day with a nice snow covering a few days earlier would be perfect :D

Looking at doing this on Thursday. Anyone got a gpx file by chance? Looking at that previously gps track screenshoot and sat views, the best way up is through that line of lower scrub that runs between two thicker sections? Looks like there might be a spot of rain forecast though so do we reckon there'd be a high chance of no views at the top? Always been lucky with clear skies in the SW but that can of course change in minutes
