A group of us will be heading up past Great Lake to walk into some of the more remote lakes in a couple of weeks.
We fly into Launceston and will hire a car at the airport.
Is there a closer source of gas canisters (screw fitting) than going all the way into Launceston CBD?

Would just make a shorter trip as we have a fair way to go on the first day!

Cheers,

If you're going up to the Great Lake area, one assumes you will be going via the Lakes H'way. That means through Deloraine. I'm pretty sure you can get gas canisters in Deloraine.

Going through deloraine from the airport means going through launceston anyway right ? I assume he wants to head through cressy, poatina etc.

I don't spend a lot of time in Deloraine but I've never seen camping gas for sale there, nor the shop we stopped at close to the lakes a few weeks ago. I would suggest heading into Launceston and securing your supply to be sure.

I assume we would head through Deloraine and past Great Lake.
Anyone have any specific info on gas supply in Deloraine?

edit...map confirmed quicker to not go into Launceston from the airport, rather go Perth, Longford, ?Cressey and onto Deloraine.

I am sure I have bought screw top gas in Deloraine, but you should ring the hardware shop.

You can get gas from the hardware store and the sports store here in Deloraine as above.

If you go Perth-Longford-Cressy you will then head up past Poatina and not go anywhere near Deloraine. There is a hardware shop in Longford might be worth a call.
There is little difference in travel time between the 2 routes, if you're heading out Lake Augusta way from Liawenee it's a bit quicker going via Deloraine.

Ty all.
Checked with Becks Hardware and Good Sports Deloraine, and both sell them.
Cheers!
