Location of Stannard's Grave

Postby jmac » Sun 21 Oct, 2018 8:06 pm

Just wondering if anyone is able and willing to share an accurate location for John Stannard's Grave? It was reportedly marked with a Huon Pine Board somewhere in Stannard's Flat, in 1901. If a person was to wander in that vicinity, I wonder if it is still evident?

Also mentioned in Simon Kleinig's book about frenchmans cap with a reference to the Mercury Newspaper as well. Might provide some more details

Thanks all.

Warin that is a very good source; some reports I hadn’t previously seen. Appreciated! As with the info kindly supplied by Tas Trax by message.

I don’t think I’ll be searching for the gravesite this summer; but I think it would be a fun trip.

Thanks, John

Rob Parsons just posted his 3rd trip (?) to find it on YouTube called "Jayne 2.1". After some persistent adventuring, he has located the grave site. He's an excellent videographer and story teller.

Thanks for the heads up on this story, it’s a nicely presented video with great story telling. A true adventure Tassie style!
