Hi all,

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas!
I’m just chasing some additional information in regards to Pandani Shelf and please feel free to message me as I realise it’s hard to find this information for a reason!

I’ve read mixed reviews on which way to access this, would it be possible to walk in for 1 night and out the next day? If so, which way would you recommend?

Any updated information would be gratefully appreciated!

Thank you.

Rumour has it the Anne tracks will open early next year. March I'd guess.

Judging from the Parks advice and some recent discussions with Parkies,
The shelf is open

"The following tracks are closed:
Mt Anne Circuit (including Mt Anne and Lake Judd tracks)
Eliza Plateau
Huon Track
Farmhouse Creek Track (including Federation Peak)
Eastern Arthur Range Traverse (including Federation Peak)
Western Arthur Range Traverse - East of Moraine Kappa
McKays Track - East of Moraine Kappa
Rasselas Track"

Some rangers are advising that " the whole area is closed"
Choose wisely

Last time I was there the "track" to the shelf had a closed sign over it.

Last time I was there, the start was still taped off and signed as closed, but I know some cavers who have since been to Ann-a-Kananda and Sodom and Gomorrah, and they said tape and signs were gone. That doesn't mean they were removed officially. Check with TasPAWS; if you have trouble getting a straight answer from head office, call Mt Field.

There is nothing at all on the Tas Parks alerts page suggesting it's closed, just the Anne circuit. There is no tape and no sign on the track, Also none of the track or anything near it was affected by fire.
I did see some of what I assume was the tape over the track start used as tapes in forest.... I guess theres the answer about it being officially removed....

And that right there was why I ignored the track closed sign and went up anyway. Drove all that way thinking it was open as it wasn't on the website nor could any staff member confirm or deny.
