It is with great sadness that I pass on the news that Launceston Walking Club Life Member Norton Harvey OAM has passed away after having suffered a stroke in April, then recently entering Regis Aged Care at Legana. Norton was enticed into joining the LWC in 1959 so he could go on a club trip to Federation Peak, and has been a member since then, contributing to our “Do You Know Tasmania” shows with his excellent photography and movie making skills. His passion for bushwalking in Tasmania’s wild places, and sharing this with others, will be long remembered by all who knew him. The legacy of his movie making lives on with the forty-five 16mm films he produced now digitised with the assistance of a Tasmanian Community Fund grant in 2006.
