Dog friendly walks

Postby Dutchy » Tue 05 Oct, 2021 4:28 pm

Ok, I may be opening a can of worms here with people saying I shouldn't be walking with my dog. If thats you, scroll on and leave me alone.
I'm coming to Tassie in February for yet another visit but due to my living arrangements on the mainland, I'm bringing my dog for the first time. I've camped and hiked in much of Tassies National Parks, but this time I'll be focussing on different areas. Riding in MTB parks, beaches and areas that allow dogs. So there's a few areas I know allow dogs in Tassie (Bay of Fires, Arthur Piemann), but theres many "Forest Reserves" on all the maps that are probably similar to State Forests in Vic. So my question is, which walks do you know in Forests Reserves or other areas that allow dogs? All over Tassie has my interest, from short walks to 20km day walks, or possibly even overnight.
Thanks!

I'll private message you some ideas tomorrow. All legal and allowable and above board (I've lived here for 10 years with 2 dogs) but I want to avoid the potential negative online feedback.

Took another look at this recently.

There's a filter on the All Trails that may add a few ideas: https://www.alltrails.com/explore?b_tl_ ... 48.34892&f[]=dogs

Which appears to include the Tas P&W sites, more info: https://parks.tas.gov.au/explore-our-pa ... s-in-parks
(Also various levels of access permits above this if necessary)

There's a Facebook group, for more general access ideas: https://www.facebook.com/dogfriendlytasmania

There is a nice beach down at Kingston. Just 10m from Hobart. Let me know if you need directions.

That covers all TasPAWS controlled reserves that permit dogs. Most are strictly on-lead at all times, though there are a few that have 'effective control'' areas.
