Just starting to turn on the ridges to Camp Hill and Pyramid Mountain, seems later than usual this season though? Judging by the photos on Insta there's plenty of golden leaves around the usual spots around Cradle.
Quick follow up on this thread- doesn't seem to be very active this season.. Either it's still too early this year for most of the usual sites to turn or perhaps the topic just doesn't attract much attention these days?
Everyone was getting off the bus at Dove Lake last week looking for Fagus and there really isnt too much to be seen from the carpark. Behind Little Horn was a different story.......an ocean of yellow!! ( but not so much red ).
"What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken in the wind"?
further to the comment that this thread has been a bit quiet....we headed up to Tarn Shelf yesterday and the fagus is looking perfect! Some small twigs/patches of red but mostly yellows and oranges but looking beautiful along the water’s edge. Also, the gully and area around Lake Fenton dam is perfect for those who just want to park the car and walk a few paces to be amongst some good fagus.
Pics from tan shelf below.
