Interesting piece on development. Anyone else shudder at the word ‘travelator’ here? https://amp.abc.net.au/article/101261750

Talk about socialising the costs and privatising the profits! $14M of taxpayers money to be spent on a scheme that effectively restricts their access to the park.

I just shudder at some of the suggestions for the Light to Light walk. It's why a few of us are going up to walk it in September (again) before they turn into a commercial fee paying paved "travelator".

It's gross, isn't it? Don't blame you at all for getting in before it goes down that road!

Ostensibly, I'm exactly the kind of bushwalker who would benefit from developers making these walks easier. Compared with a lot of you guys, I'm a novice (certainly by Tasmanian standards). But that's just it - I don't want to have these walks made easier, because I haven't earned them. If you're walking, say, the Western Arthurs, it should only be after you've gained a hell of a lot of experience and developed your bushcraft to a high degree. It shouldn't be presented to you on a *&%$#! silver platter.

PS: Apologies for the double post, guys - haven't quite worked out how to delete one of them.
