Strange sights on Rowallan?

Had to check this out as we passed on our way to a walk into Lake Myrtle at the weekend. It was lifted into place with a crane, then tied off to nearby trees. They were filming at Lake Parangana too. I think it was for a James Boags ad.
Curious to know for what reason you would want a cottage on a raft floating on a lake?!!! We will just have to wait & see...

Maybe Tastrekker knows - he put a photo of this into "the game" with a cryptic note about it being there for only 1 week

Hi Thomas & Haydnb,
Sorry I didn't respond. The Advocate beat me to it yesterday. I've attached below for the benefit of non-Advocate readers.
I was on my way to a very pleasant walk to Rinadeena Falls with family and friends when I had to look twice to believe what I was seeing as we drove past. On the way back we took a closer look. Filming was planned for that night.
It's interesting to read the the Mole Creek publican refering to Echo Valley. The "bloke in barrel" bit was filmed at Lake Parangana. To me, Echo Valley is the farmland near Croesus Cave downstream from the Olivers Road bridge. This is based on a wooden sign that used to be on the farm fence there. I wonder if that whole narrow valley from Liena to Howells Plains (under Lake Rowallan) was originally known as Echo Valley.
I remember my father saying before the dams were built the pool at the junction of the Fisher and Mersey River (under Lake Parangana) was reputed to be bottomless. Perhaps a fisherman with a depth sounder could go out there, find the old junction and have a go at estimating the depth of the original pool.

P.S. Did anyone notice the forum member who featured in the main article on that page of the Advocate?

G'day Thomas,
We saw some pretty cascades just above the falls. Not sure if we got to that one. I had small children in tow and the creek was flowing strongly. We 'circumnavigated' the falls and crossed about 50m upstream so anyone falling in the swollen creek would end up among boulders rather than over the main fall!
14 years ago I took a group to Long Tarns and Mersey Crag. We returned by following the creek all the way down from the plateau to Rinadeena Falls. On that trip we saw several gorges, waterfalls and rock overhangs on our way down.

All is now revealed!
Howells Bluff in the Walls of Jerusalem National Park broods over the choppy water and dead strees of Lake Rowallan.

I love Boags' ads, and that has to be one of the best. The atmosphere is sublime.

There's a series of at least 3 ads (on you tube at least). The other 2 I saw were for Boags Draft (with the Rowallan one being Boags Premium).

Interesting. It's not the Russell Falls I was expecting (Mt Field). Is there another set of falls named Russell somewhere else??

Think you'll find the vast majority of crewing, production and post production was done via mainland contractors

You know, Guys, you are right on the money. The website quotes them as Russell Falls but it
is actually Pencil Pine Falls. A quick image search on Google confirms it.
My humblest apologies

No worries Lyndoor, not your mistake!!
You can pretty much take it for granted the media will get names wrong in this type of thing. This year they have been VERY bad.
