Lake Ada to Dixon's Kingdom via Lake Fanny

Postby alanoutgear » Tue 10 Jan, 2012 8:44 pm

We're off to the WoJ by the back door next week and have been looking at the various routes from Lake Ada to Dixon's Kingdom. We'll initially head from Lake Ada to Lake Fanny, but which way should we head from there? Should we head east-ish through Zion Gate and Jaffa Gate, or head straight up the Great Pine Tier past the Long Tarns, or keep west-ish and head up Bernes Valley and the Jaffa Vale? All route choices look good but we can't do all three.

Also, I've heard there is now a composting toilet at Dixon's Kingdom - can someone confirm this for me?

There is a fly out toilet at Dixon, was one there in Oct 11.
When I walked in from Ada We went via Antimony and Bernes Valley and out via Zion gate and Lake Fanny.
Chapmans book describes the walk and route is shown on one of his maps.
We did lose the track/route just before Antimony but found Hut no 5 no problems.
it is a pleasant walk up Bernes Valley and after Zion gate it is a pleasant down to Talleh lagoons

If the weather is nice :? then there is a fairly easy route over the Great pine tier . Cross the bottom end of Fanny in a SW ditection then follow obvious clear leads to NW towards the back of mount Jerusalem.
Nice easy going .

Apparantely about 10 years ago certain un named people in parks wanted to reduce visitors to 25 per year in certain areas with $5000 fines and get everyone to wear green so they were not a visual scar on the landscape haha

Any chance of someone answering the question I asked at the start, rather than crapping on about toilets?
